Celebrate the UK’s independent retailers!!!

www.elesclothing.co.uk has come across this idea I hope it works for you all Retailers have been encouraged to support Independents’ Day on 4 July 2012 to celebrate the UK’s independent retailers.

The scheme encourages the public to buy at least one thing from their local, independent shop on 4 July as a way of championing the diversity on the high street and recognising the skills behind the shop front.

Independent stores are being encouraged to download posters from the official website, retailindieday.com/download, to display in shop windows to get their local community excited about the campaign.

Jane Rexworthy, head of the National Skills Academy for Retail which has teamed up with Skillsmart Retail for the campaign, said “Independents’ Day aims to highlight the huge range of skills successful independent retailers need to make our towns and cities such interesting and varied places to visit and shop.”

Independents’ Day is also backed by The Independent Retailer Month which runs throughout July. This global ‘Shop Local’ campaign is aimed at highlighting the importance of smaller, local, independent retailers in their community and to the retail sector in general. The UK’s Independent Retailer Month is fronted by one of Moda’s seminar speakers from its February show, Clare Rayner, The Retail Champion.

“Retailers who get involved will obviously benefit from the support of the campaign,” says Clare Rayner. “They will be able to position themselves as a key component of the local retail offer, showing customers what great products and services they have.”
